Footballhood: UCL Draw UPDATE - Who have Arsenal got in the Group Stage?

As the UEFA Champions League play-off stage has ended, it is time for another episode of the biggest continental club tournament in Europe and in the world. 10 winners from the play-off stage will join 22 other clubs who have already gained automatic qualification to the group stage. Later today (16.00 CET), these clubs will know their faith and who their team members are as the group stage draw is to be made in Monaco.

The 32 teams are placed in four different pots based on their respective coefficient (similar to points). There will be 8 groups in this stage and each group consists of four teams, chosen from each pot. Below are the list of teams in all four pots.

POT 1:
Inter Milan, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, ARSENAL, Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Lyon

POT 2:
Werder Bremen, Real Madrid, Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, Valencia, Marseille and Panathinaikos

POT 3:
Tottenham, Rangers, Ajax, Schalke, FC Basel, FC Copenhagen and Spartak Moscow

POT 4:
Hapoel Tel-Aviv, Twente, Rubin Kazan, Auxerre, CFR Cluj, FK Partizan, Zilina and Bursaspor

Here you go. Arsenal get Ukraine side Shakhtar (with Eduardo making a swift return to the Emirates Stadium), Champions League debutants Braga from Portugal and Partizan from Serbia.

  2. These teams will not be hard to beat, but the travelling would be long and the atmosphere in their stadiums might be different. Yet, I still expect Arsenal to cruise through at home against these teams.
